First, I simply want to give praise to God who loves, forgives, redeems and calls. It is out the love of God that all these things spring forth. “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.” (Psalm 100:1-2)

We live in a time where “calls” seem to be ignored. After all, who answers their phone anymore, especially when we don’t know if it is a “spam caller?” Email goes unanswered due to its overwhelming nature, not to mention spam, junk and clutter. Texts go unanswered because there are too many to keep track of or we simply just don’t feel like responding. We seem to often pick and choose when we will answer a “call.” I find it to be the same for the Church when it comes to God. Do we pick and choose to answer God when He is calling? Maybe the first question to ask is do we even take time to listen? Probably the greatest aspect of communication is found in listening. God is always talking. God is often calling. Have you taken the time to listen, hear and answer that call?

Heritage is a wonderful place that was built upon those things that have been entrusted to us: lives, facilities, ministries, etc. What are we doing to pass this heritage on to the next generation? It isn’t so much about attending Heritage as it is leaving a heritage. Church isn’t just a place to gather and receive, it is also a place to give and serve.

I firmly believe that we are in the hours and days of the harvest. Jesus said in Matthew 9:27 that the harvest is here and it is great but there are very few workers in the fields. Why do you think this is so? How many of us are listening and responding to the Lord’s calling in our life to contribute to the body of Christ with the gifts He has entrusted us with? We have many opportunities at Heritage for you to answer the Lord’s call in your life. Will we take the time to ask, seek, listen and respond? Know this: where God calls, He also equips (Hebrews 13:20-21). May we be found as the generation that listens, answers, and leaves a heritage in the time of the harvest!
